I hear this a lot, I need more sales. I ask what have their sales been. They respond with (and this is an example) "well one month it is $8,000 and the next month it is $15,000 and the next month it is $6,000 and then the next month it is $12,000." I ask why that might be and the owner generally will say that is all I can do.
What? Yes, I can only handle so much when I am busy and when it slows down, I get back to marketing. I ask the question - are you able to keep employees? Money in the bank? Spend enough time with the family? The answer is no, because they are trying to do it all themselves.
As business owners we need to ask ourselves this question, are we working in the business or on the business. If we are working in the business, then we need to hire and train a sales team. So, when we are working in the business, someone is out making sales calls. So, the question is, do you have a plan to hire and train a salesperson? Generally the response is I can't find anyone as good as me or I don't have the time or I don't know how to train a sales person...
If this sounds like you and your business - find a good business coach. They will help you get on track so you can realize the business that you wanted when you started.....
